3. Macho Man Randy Savage Vs. The Ultimate Warrior (WrestleMania VII)

Unlike many of the other entrants on this list, the build for this match was not that great. Savage cost Warrior the title and The Ultimate Warrior wanted his revenge in a match that would have both men put their careers on the line. It was nothing too special. The match itself, however, was most certainly special. It's a testament to the abilities of Randy Savage that he could drag a five-star quality match out of The Ultimate Warrior. While not a technical classic by any means, the story told during this contest of both men having to battle their very natures as well as each other made for one incredible spectacle. It's actually more of a movie than a match in that respect. The entire contest is a series of scenes well constructed to form one compelling narrative that takes place largely inside the confines of a wrestling ring. Down to a tear-jerking ending that saw Macho Man turn from his evil ways and marry Miss Elizabeth, this is perhaps the most cinematic wrestling match of all time. It also goes to show that a blowoff match doesn't need a grand story to be an epic.
