10 Greatest In-Ring Alliances In WWE Royal Rumble History
3. The Brothers Of Destruction; RVD & Kane - 2003
Perhaps it's the paranoia of their partners ambushing them in the middle of a truce, but it's a real wonder why more teams don't stick together until the final phase of the Royal Rumble match.
In 2003, there was a BOGO on failed alliances in the Rumble. During a backstage promo, Kane informed his then tag team partner, Rob Van Dam, although he appreciated working with him, it was "every man for himself" during the 30-man battle royal. RVD said he understood and was way too relaxed when he encouraged 'The Big Red Machine' to do whatever it took to win.
Kane ended up dumping his 420-friendly tag partner over the top rope while RVD was focused on their sequence of double team moves. From there, 'The Devil's Favourite Demon' worked alongside The Undertaker (by happenstance) to fight off Batista and Brock Lesnar.
With 'The Animal' eliminated, 'The Deadman' turned to Kane and teased the idea of them teaming up. No sooner than he turned around to pursue 'The Beast,' his d*ckish half-brother hurled him out of the ring. Of course, this ended up being costly for 'The Phenom' and led to a distraction that lost him the match. So late in the bout, it really seemed as though 'Big Evil' could have waited until Lesnar was gone to betray his Brother of Destruction, but that would've been creatively inconvenient.
