10 Greatest Opening Entrants In WWE Royal Rumble History

5. Eddie Guerrero And Chris Benoit - 2005

Much like with Punk and Bryan in 2011, 2005 saw the number one and two spots filled by two of the most technically proficient wrestlers on the WWE€˜s books. And though they initially went at it toe-to-toe, they eventually went on to spend much of their time in the match working together, eliminating the likes of Hardcore Holly, the Hurricane and Booker T along the way. They also put quite the beating on poor Daniel Puder, the winner of Tough Enough season 4. Along with the aforementioned Holly, they initiated their own little chop competition of sorts, the rapturous slaps of which had even Eddie himself wincing. What made this instance so noteworthy though was the fact that just 8 months prior, Eddie Guerrero and Chris Benoit had been headliners at WrestleMania XX, closing the show standing tall together€”both with World Titles in tow. Thus having them open the 2005 Rumble was as symbolic as it was impactful.
