10 Greatest Pure WWE Wrestlers

5. Brock Lesnar

If a sure thing doesn’t exist in wrestling, Brock Lesnar is about as close as it gets. Scouted from the amateurs after winning the NCAA Division I championship, WWE broke the bank to sign up this untested rookie with only a passing interest in sports entertainment. Suffice to say, it paid off.

In OVW, Lesnar was paired with pal and fellow amateur Shelton Benjamin with the two working a solidly Olympic style. This comfortable move set helped Brock when he leapt to the main roster, but more important was his unerring confidence. As you would were you a man of Lesnar’s stature, he came to the dance knowing full well he belonged, and he was top dog in no time.

Then, he sacked it off to play football (unsuccessfully) and fight in UFC (very successfully). When he returned in 2012 he carried with him a new, even more frightening aura, but it was WWE’s shrewd booking that turned him into an all-timer.

He broke the streak, destroyed Cena at SummerSlam 2014, legitimately bust open Randy Orton, and worked a new super explosive style that, at its best, was unbelievably exciting. This wasn’t always too fun to watch for the viewers, but wrestling has rarely felt less worked.
