10 Greatest Returns In WWE SummerSlam History

1. Shawn Michaels

After suffering a career-ending back injury in 1998, next to no one thought Shawn Michaels would ever wrestle another match. As far as he and everyone else was concerned, he was done. He'd make special appearances from time to time, but his days as a member of the active roster were behind him. That was, however, until he agreed to step inside the squared circle one last time at SummerSlam 2002. Triple H's vicious attack on him forced him to come out of retirement to go one-on-one with him at SummerSlam. Although there were questions of how well he would fare against The Game, HBK silenced his critics by putting on a show-stealing performance and showing zero signs of ring rust. The former friends contested a classic for the ages, and with no disqualifications and no count-outs, they took each other to their respective limits. Although Michaels was deemed the victor, he couldn't walk out under his own power due to a post-match attack from Triple H. While this was initially intended to be a one-off for The Showstopper, he went on to become a full-time member of he Raw roster once again and the rest is history.
