Needless to say, no one has ever made as many returns at SummerSlam than The Undertaker. He may be most known for his two decade long undefeated streak at WrestleMania, but few Superstars can lay claim to the title of Mr. SummerSlam like The Deadman can. His first major comeback came in 1994 when he went missing after the Royal Rumble and resurfaced in time for SummerSlam to go up against the impostor Undertaker. The match was deplorable, so that's not the return that will be discussed here. Rather, his in-ring return at SummerSlam 2008 eclipsed anything else he's ever accomplished at the August extravaganza. Undertaker and Edge were embroiled in a ruthless rivalry for the better part of 2008, and it seemingly concluded at One Night Stand when Edge sent him packing from WWE with a win in a TLC match. However, then-SmackDown general manager Vickie Guerrero later reinstated The Phenom to get back at Edge for cheating on her and scheduled a Hell in a Cell match between the two for SummerSlam. The match was nothing short of spectacular and arguably the last truly great Hell in a Cell match. Undertaker was able to exact this revenge on his longtime rival by figuratively (as well as literally) putting him through hell, sending a message to the rest of the roster that The Deadman was back and better than ever.
