He was fresh off a controversial World Heavyweight Championship win against Randy Orton at Money in the Bank, but because that match featured a fluky finish, their next rematch at SummerSlam was going to be contested under No Holds Barred rules. Of course, this meant that there wouldn't be any rules at all, and Orton would be able to dish out a cruel amount of punishment on his adversary without any repercussions. Christian was looking for any shortcuts he could find, so he teased bringing in backup on the SmackDown before SummerSlam. Rumours ran rampant as to who he was bringing in to stand in his corner before it was revealed to be Edge.
