10 Greatest Returns In WWE SummerSlam History

7. Edge

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntmeTqW-sWU Heading into 2011's SummerSlam pay-per-view, Christian was at a distinct disadvantage. He was fresh off a controversial World Heavyweight Championship win against Randy Orton at Money in the Bank, but because that match featured a fluky finish, their next rematch at SummerSlam was going to be contested under No Holds Barred rules. Of course, this meant that there wouldn't be any rules at all, and Orton would be able to dish out a cruel amount of punishment on his adversary without any repercussions. Christian was looking for any shortcuts he could find, so he teased bringing in backup on the SmackDown before SummerSlam. Rumours ran rampant as to who he was bringing in to stand in his corner before it was revealed to be Edge. The Los Angeles crowd popped huge for the returning former World Champion, but they weren't sure what role he would play in Christian's pursuit to walk away with the title. Instead of coming to Christian's aid, he called him out on his antics over the past several months and refused to help him in any way. Despite Captain Charisma's best attempts to convince him to stay, Edge stormed off, effectively ending their longtime friendship and leaving him to be beaten by Orton.
