Halfway through his explosive reunion run with Shawn Michaels as D-Generation X, Triple H was saddled with a torn quad injury that would keep out of action for the better part of 2007. In his absence, a new "king" had come to Raw and had taken the title of being the most powerful entity in all of WWE: King Booker. Booker dominated the SmackDown scene during his reign as the 2006 King of the Ring and subsequent World Heavyweight Champion, and now that he had made the move to Monday nights, there was no telling what kind of competition awaited him. Logically, the first top-tier star he targeted was Triple H, who he verbally berated week after week until The Game was deemed fit to compete against him at SummerSlam. Fans were hyped to witness the return of Triple H after so many months away from WWE programming, but his match against Booker T fell well below expectations. The "King vs. King" aspect of it was cool, but HHH made short work of the former world champion and cemented him as an inferior opponent. Unsurprisingly, the feud dissolved after the event and he was gone from the company shortly thereafter.
