10 Greatest Successes Of WWE Developmental

7. Charlotte

Ashley Fliehr, better known as the former NXT women€™s champion Charlotte, is one of those wrestlers referred to as €˜prodigies€™€ just like Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle back in the day, Charlotte has become a phenomenal talent in an incredibly short space of time. It may have been three years ago that she began working at NXT, but her first televised match (a pinfall victory over Bayley) was a four-minute athletic triumph, two months to the day since she signed her developmental contract with no wrestling experience whatsoever. In May 2014, Charlotte would be booked to win an eight-woman tournament to decide the new NXT women€™s champion after Paige was forced to vacate the title. It€™s an incredible testament to her talent that the final of the tournament at the NXT TakeOver special event saw Fliehr more than hold her own against the talented veteran Natalya in a seventeen-minute barnburner of a match€ only ten months after her debut match in the business. Of course, €˜Fliehr€™ means Flair €“ Charlotte is the legendary Nature Boy€™s daughter. Her wrestling pseudonym is taken from the city of her birth, the capital of Flair country, Charlotte, North Carolina €“ a place that doesn€™t recognise Hulk Hogan, €˜Stone Cold€™ Steve Austin or John Cena, but remains Flair through and through to this day. While the other NXT female wrestlers must be looking at the dreadful storylines and dialogue inflicted upon Paige and Emma when they graduated to the main roster, wondering whether the same thing will happen to them, Charlotte can rest easy. When you€™re the daughter of Ric Flair, genetically superior: it€™s just natural selection.
