10 Greatest Tag Team Matches In WWE WrestleMania History
8. Demolition Vs. The Colossal Connection (WrestleMania VI)
It's simultaneously admirable and lamentable that Andre the Giant went for as long as he did in the ring. At WrestleMania III, in the main event against Hulk Hogan, Andre was constantly in incredible pain, and could visibly barely move. Here he was three years later still chugging along, this time defending the tag titles with Haku against Demolition.
This match isn't really much of a tag team match, as by this point, poor Andre was very much living on borrowed time. Thus, he mainly stood on the apron while Haku took the brunt of Demolition's offense. After a miscommunication between the two which resulted in Andre getting tied up in the ropes, Haku ended up taking Demolition's finisher, ending in the Colossal Collection losing their titles.
It's what happened afterwards, however, that earns this match's place in history and on this list. An irate Bobby Heenan proceeded to berate Andre for the loss, and, in a fit of anger, slapped the Giant. Having had enough of his manager's crap, Andre turned on the Brain to a huge reception, finally turning face after three years. In his final in-ring performance at WrestleMania, Andre was able to redeem himself in the eyes of the fans. A few years later, he would pass away.
