10 Greatest Tag Team Matches In WWE WrestleMania History
5. The Shield Vs. Big Show, Sheamus, & Randy Orton (WrestleMania 29)
This seems an odd match to have on this list, to be sure. For good reason, WrestleMania 29 isn't fondly looked upon by most people, as the main events were, well, pretty dang crummy. However, there're bits and pieces to be enjoyed from this show, such as the opener: the WrestleMania debut of The Shield.
Perhaps it's just for sentimentality that I'm highlighting this match. After all, WrestleMania 35 shall be in MetLife Stadium (like 29), and with all signs pointing to Dean Ambrose making his exit from WWE, we truly are reaching an end of an era for the company (as cliche as that seems). With everything these men have been through as individuals, it's amazing to see how far they've come from their days as this mysterious, dominant trio.
As a match itself, it's still a fun opener to watch semi-regularly. The Shield came at a time when WWE was still in a stale PG-era lull, and it was fitting that at 'Mania, they took on Sheamus, Big Show, and Orton: WWE's vanguard of stale.
Featuring dynamic team offense, and one of many memorable Rollins-Orton RKO spots, this short-but-sweet opener on a mediocre WrestleMania will end up having more emotional and historical weight than I think any of us could have realized at the time.
