3. The Fabulous Freebirds

Speaking to Chris Jericho for his podcast, Jimmy Garvin laughed alongside Michael Hayes as he discussed the irony of being inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame despite never really appearing for the promotion. Aside from a short spell in 1984, The Fabulous Freebirds as a whole evaded the company.

Hayes later worked as an on screen personality, occasional wrestler and creative team member. He has carved a terrific career for himself since largely retiring from the ring, but he looks back on the Freebirds as his most enjoyable time in wrestling. It's not hard to see why, in promotions like World Class and the AWA, the faction proved to be a complete riot.

Feuding with The Von Erich Family in Texas, The Fabulous Freebirds were a phenomenal heel stable. It's hard to say for sure what they could have done in the WWF, but it makes sense to imagine they would have been more successful had their roving tendencies not prevented them from staying put.

Hayes, Terry Gordy and Buddy Roberts were the originals, but Garvin later became an 'official' Freebird himself. That WWF run escaped them, it could have been special.
