10 Greatest Worked Shoots In Wrestling History

7. Joey Styles Shoots On WWE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lda6Mem9Vbo In May 2006, WWE commentator Joey Styles quit live on Monday Night RAW after putting up with constant needling from his partner Jerry Lawler. He€™d deliver a scathing promo at the top of the ramp, putting down the entire WWE, sports entertainment and Vince McMahon personally, before walking out of the company. In reality, announcing legend Jim €˜J.R.€™ Ross was returning to pick up the headphones that Styles was putting down, and Styles would be calling the revamped but diluted WWE version of ECW that was debuting only a month or so later. Ironically, the promo was delivered as a way of promoting this diet version of ECW, by putting over the original ECW€™s style of wrestling promotion (as opposed to the safer, more corporate version that WWE brought to 21st century audiences) Styles having been the commentator for ECW during its first run. Nonetheless, the promo was blisteringly good, and the vastly underrated Styles put just enough heart and soul into delivering it to make it seem personal, and very real.
