When Vickie Guerrero first became a full-time member of the WWE roster, no one knew what to expect from her. She wasnt a Diva in terms of physique, and she certainly wasnt someone who was meant to wrestle every week. So she found herself a niche role as an on-screen authority figure, which was a perfect tool for her to garner a negative reaction from the crowd. But by far the biggest reason people booed her was because of her catchphrase, Excuse Me, which she said during one of her earliest promos because she forgot the script. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyKnBAUN_PQ Said in a high-pitched, shrill voice and accompanied by a huge scowl on her face, all it took for Vickie to get instant heat (and attention) from the crowd was to speak those two words. While some might argue that Vickie was getting X-Pac heat, that is, they were booing her because they legitimately wanted her gone instead of booing her due to the effectiveness of her heel character, the end result was still the same. Anyone who was working alongside Vickie was vilified almost instantly, while anyone who opposed her was cheered and adored. Vickie just repeated these words a few times and it got over as an annoying heel phrase. Then she nurtured it by adding all the extra facial expressions and going really high-pitch and the audience would let her have it. This simple, everyday phrase made Vickie one of the most hated characters on the WWE roster. It just goes to show that sometimes keeping it simple really is the best way to go about things.
