When the two most-seasoned Hell in a Cell stars met one-on-one at WrestleMania, it would have taken a brave man to bet against this one being anything other than a classic. Add Shawn Michaels to the mixand of course the Hell in a Cell stipulationand this one was all set to be a battle for the ages. The Undertaker and Triple H went at it for over half an hour, and even though Taker had won all 19 of his previous WrestleMania matches, this was anything but a foregone conclusion. In fact, this was arguably the closest anyone got to breaking the Streak until Brock Lesnar did so in 2014. With Michaels seemingly moments away from ending the match, Taker locked the acting referee in the Hells Gate. That clearly rubbed Michaels the wrong way, and later in the match he would seek retribution by hitting the Sweet Chin Music, which Triple H duly followed up with a Pedigree. In any other match, that would score the 1-2-3, and the crowd very much knew it. Being the Undertaker though, and more importantly being WrestleMania, the Deadman would kick out and ultimately went on to win the match. Still, the drama that was told in this match was absolutely first classparticularly via Michaels facial expressions. He may not have been a direct participant in the match, but HBK was nonetheless an integral part in making this match the excellent affair that it was.
