10 Greatest WWE Raw Endings Ever

5. Goldberg's Debut (31 March 2003)

Goldberg's original WWE run, remembered chiefly for the hugely underwhelming note on which it ended at WrestleMania XX, was characterised by poor timing. He came in too late to be involved in the 2001 Invasion angle, but too early to be a nostalgia act.

His arrival on Monday Night Raw, however, couldn't have been planned better. He popped up on the post-'Mania edition of the show in March 2003, interrupting The Rock's self-hosted "Appreciation Ceremony" just as the then-heel People's Champion had succeeded in getting the crowd to turn against him.

After an almost unbearably tense stare down, Goldberg asked his new colleague whether he wanted to know who was "next", before - inevitably - breaking the news that it was none other than The Great One himself. Then: a Spear (with classic Rocky over-selling), and a monstrous reaction from the crowd.

We didn't have a great deal to shout about for the remainder of the ex-WCW star's 12 months working for Vince McMahon, but it did deliver one of the all-time great debuts, the type of which is unlikely to be repeated now that the era of mega-stars is behind us.
