10 Greatest WWE SmackDown Endings
3. Total Devastation - 12 June 2003
WWE has always loved the "clash of titans" scenario of one superhuman against another, pitting the proverbial irresistible force against the immovable object. It worked at WrestleMania III with Hogan and Andre and it worked once again in 2003 with Brock Lesnar and Big Show.
Brock's victory over the giant in a stretcher match at Judgment Day had left a bad taste in Big Show's mouth. As such, the seven foot monster was out for revenge when the two met again a month later on SmackDown with the WWE Title on the line. While that didn't quite pan out for the big man, both men succeeded in making history with one of the most creative finishes to date.
With Big Show straddling the top turnbuckle, Lesnar climbed up in pursuit. What followed was a gargantuan superplex that sent the 500lb giant hurtling towards the canvas, colliding with the mat like a falling wrecking ball. The force would cause the entire ring to collapse and everyone in it was left laying upon impact - including referee, Mike Chioda.
The match was ruled a no contest in light of the destruction and the replay regularly made the WWE highlight reel for years to come.
