10 Greatest WWE Stables Of The Past 10 Years
4. The Nexus
The Nexus would have challenged for the top spot had John Cena not killed them at SummerSlam 2010, but the faction felt like the freshest thing in the world in the months leading up to the event, starting with one of the most memorable debuts in modern WWE history.
John Cena faced CM Punk in the main event of a June 2010 episode of Raw, when a Wade Barrett-led group of NXT rookies appeared at ringside, all sporting matching armbands branded with the letter "N." They destroyed their surroundings, attacking Cena and Punk first, before setting their sights on Luke Gallows, Jerry Lawler, and anyone (and anything) else they could get their hands on.
The Nexus claimed their actions were provoked by the poor treatment they'd received from WWE during their NXT run, and their spree of destruction continued. Cena was their most regular target, but they'd obliterate anyone unfortunate enough to cross paths with them, and wound up costing John his WWE Championship at Fatal 4-Way.
The scene was set for a huge Nexus victory at SummerSlam, cementing them as one of the most imposing forces in WWE history, but Cena almost slaughtered them single-handedly. Their threat level was gone, and Barrett's value as a potential main eventer ended when John decisively crushed him at TLC that December.
