10 Greatest WWE World Title Storylines In WrestleMania History
8. Randy Orton Attacks Triple H's Family (2009)
The height of Orton's on-again/off-again portrayal as an explosively-violent head case was firmly on-again when he spent several months terrorizing the McMahon Family. The week before winning the 2009 Royal Rumble, Orton assaulted Vince with his running punt after an in-ring argument. During February, Orton feuded with a returning Shane McMahon, a backroad to WrestleMania 25 that met with mixed reviews, but did end with Orton victorious (barely). After Orton hit Stephanie with an RKO on February 16, the feud firmly shifted toward WWE Champion Triple H. The ante was upped with over-the-top antics, such as Helmsley breaking into Orton's house in order to assault him. On March 23, with Helmsley handcuffed to the ropes, Orton DDT'd Stephanie and kissed her while she was unconscious, while the champ could only watch, screaming murderous threats. Unrealistic and zany as parts of it were, it was more engrossing than some of the mundane offerings of recent years.
