Few men can lay claim to the levels of bada**ery that Minoru Suzuki can.

The leader of Suzuki-gun may be 48 years old, but you’d have to be momentarily devoid of your senses if you even considered starting a fight with him.

Suzuki is a fearsome wrestler, and his style is based heavily on the MMA he popularised and practised for years. Retiring in 2003 with a record of 29-20, he famously submitted Ken Shamrock during a 7-0 winning streak in Pancrase. While his body was eventually worn down, he was influential in introducing MMA to Japan.

It’s not MMA we are talking about, however. Suzuki brought this fearsome nature into wrestling. Take a look at his match with Okada earlier this year: while the majority of the fight is built around him dissecting the New Japan World Champion’s leg, he is equally capable of delivering some absolute haymakers. It’s a testament to Okada’s toughness that he was able to take them and keep standing.

There are a handful of wrestlers in history who were legitimately scary, Brock Lesnar being the most obvious example. Suzuki is one of those men, and it doesn’t matter how old he is.
