Currently in the midst of a banner year is Syuri, a standout performer in a standout period for STARDOM.

The 32-year-old is at the heart of her home company's current run. Operating at a Wrestler of the Year level, the former UFC fighter helped STARDOM break Dave Meltzer's five-star scale for the first time in company history when she fought Utami Hayashishita on 12 June. A heartstopping, concussive war with jaw-rattling strikes, stiffness, and no shortage of big bombs, it barely registered as an act. It was a gruelling struggle of human grit and perseverance - and that the duo have since gone to another draw means another chapter yet beckons.

STARDOM is one joshi organisation that AEW is yet to borrow from, though former Women's World Champion Riho spent time with the market leaders during the pandemic. That the group shares ownership with NJPW offers further hope. And if the prospect of bringing STARDOM wrestlers in exists, none should be higher on the wishlist than Syuri, whose versatility of striking, submissions, and chain work combine with genuine gravitas and real martial arts credibility to create a killer combination.
