This might be an exposé of the entire WhatCulture Wrestling team, and how thick we all might be, but no single member from it "got" the pun that was Paul Bearer's ring name.

That is probably because we all grew up on the fading embers of the Hulkamania age, and, naturally, were barely aware of the concept of death as young kids. Our parents who otherwise loathed this idiotic bullsh*t they were made to watch in the living room did offer a small smirk at it, but poor Phil Chambers was taught a bleak lesson very early in his life. When a family member passed, he was told that he was going to be a pallbearer at the funeral. He was mystified.

The ring name was an inspired joke for the dads as the WWF otherwise targeted the small children to which merchandise was hawked.

Years later, something for the dads involved parading several women on TV in various states of undress as Jerry Lawler entered the vinegar strokes - weirdly, since Sable was actually in her late 20s at the time.
