10 Highest-Rated WWE Raw Segments Ever

8. McMahon Talks Stone Cold Before Backlash (24 April 2000) - 8.12

Vince McMahon's promo addressing his wife Linda's assurance that Steve Austin would be in the house at Backlash 2000 peaked the quarter hour ratings on the 24 April 2000 episode of Raw. The segment went up against a Nitro match pitting Sting against Vampiro. Despite being advertised with "First Blood" rules, WCW pulled a measly 2.70 rating.

Over on Raw, the WWF boasted a giant 8.12 quarter. This was all reported in the 1 May 2000 Observer, and Dave Meltzer surprisingly gave WCW some credit for trying to go up against Vince with one of their bigger feuds. It wouldn't be enough though, most likely because the WWF were teasing Stone Cold's comeback.

This just shows the power of Austin's name. By merely hinting that Vince would discuss his role on that Sunday's pay-per-view, the company had fans buzzing that old rivals would lock horns live on Raw. In the end, McMahon simply warned both The Rock and Triple H that Austin wasn't to be trusted.

Poor WCW.
