10 Highest-Rated WWE Raw Segments Ever
6. Chris Benoit & Kurt Angle vs. The Rock & Kane (24 July 2000) - 8.35
Before they were attempting to use an overrun and spike ratings again on the 24 July 2000 episode, a headline tag-team match between Chris Benoit/Kurt Angle and The Rock/Kane was a quarter hour smash hit anyway.
In the 31 July 2000 issue of the Observer, Meltzer said the match pulled a segment rating of 8.4. In the same paragraph, he wrote that the tag instantly became the "sixth most watched match in the history of cable television". That contradicts what he'd write the very next week in the 7 August 2000 issue.
There, Dave corrected himself and claimed the previous week's tag-team main event had amassed a general 8.35 score without the need for an over-run. He also said that meant it was in "seventh place among the most watched matches in the history of cable".
Either the Observer got confused or they were privy to some fresh information between issues. Whatever the case, the Benoit and Angle vs. Rock and Kane match is legitimately one of the highest-rated segments in Raw history to date.
