10 Hilariously Awful Career-Killing WWE Gimmicks From The 2000s

2. Saturn Loves Moppy

Not to aspiring WWE superstars: do NOT beat up jobbers, even if they dump you on your neck during a match. Perry Saturn famously lost his cool with Mike Bell after the journeyman had botched a hiptoss and sent him loopy. Saturn responded by going into fight mode, pummelling Bell and throwing him through the ropes and onto his neck. WWF management were furious with Saturn, since the number one rule of the business is protecting your opponent and trying to work as safely as possible. Almost immediately after this incident Saturn was given a bizarre new gimmick. After being destroyed by the APA, Saturn started acting a little cooky, which the announcers put down to the effects of a concussion (imagine WWE making fun of a concussion in 2015?). He began using the catchphrase 'you're welcome' which he would spout at inappropriate times and he began a relationship with a mop. Yes, a mop. Surprisingly, the gimmick got over but the relationship with Moppy would be short-lived. Saturn's former squeeze Terri fed it to the woodchipper and Pez found himself back on Heat. He injured his ACL soon after and was quietly released by WWE. How do you come back from falling in love with a mop?
