10 Historic Wrestling Moments You've Probably Never Seen
5. The Lost Hell In A Cell Match
Yes, there was a five-man Hell in a Cell match—and no, you probably haven’t seen it.
On the September 26, 2011 episode of Raw, after cameras stopped rolling, WWE held a dark main event inside the Cell. The match featured WWE Champion John Cena defending his title against CM Punk, Alberto Del Rio, Dolph Ziggler, and Jack Swagger—all crammed inside the steel structure in what should’ve been a spectacle for the ages.
It wasn’t just a throwaway brawl, either. They used the Cell, there were big spots, and crowd-popping finishers too. Cena ultimately retained, but the uniqueness of the setup—a five-way Cell match—made it instantly historic. This was just days before the actual Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, and yet WWE barely promoted it, slightly acknowledged it, and released only the smallest amount of footage.
Why? Because it was a dark match—un-televised, never aired, and never uploaded in full. The best record of it comes from shaky fan cam footage and attendee reports. No WWE.com recap. It’s a ghost match, a surreal “did-that-actually-happen?” moment involving some of the era’s top stars locked in one of WWE’s most iconic structures…and then forgotten as if it never existed.
