10 Holy Grail WWE Dark Matches You Wish You Could've Seen

1. Hulk Hogan vs Ric Flair - Wrestling Challenge 22/12/1991

Plenty of reasons have been given as to why Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair didn't headline WrestleMania VIII.

Flair not fitting Hogan's match formula; poor house show sales; Hogan potentially leaving the promotion; but none of them justify robbing fans of what surely would have been a classic.

To add insult to injury, WCW booked this match as Hogan's debut when he signed for them in 1994. Though they never had a major televised match together, The Hulkster and The Nature Boy did clash fairly often when the cameras weren't rolling. They also put up their dukes prior to the December 22nd episode of Wrestling Challenge, with Hogan as the WWE Champion and Flair the challenger.

This episode was taped on the 12th of November, before Hogan was stripped of the belt following a controversy with The Undertaker. Fans would have to wait until 2002 to see Hogan and Flair fight on WWE TV, when the former defended his WWE Championship against the latter on an episode of Raw

It took a whole decade to get to a match that should have happened on the grandest stage of them all. Baffling.
