10 Hottest Free Agents In Wrestling Today

5. Cody Rhodes

Fans were surprised when Cody Rhodes - who, despite being underutilized by WWE, had what seemed like job security with the company dating back a decade - requested his release from the sports-entertainment giant. After being granted it, though, Rhodes painted a picture that made his dissatisfaction with WWE far more understandable. The former Intercontinental Champion was now determined to recapture his passion for wrestling by taking on some of the sport's best.

Technically, Rhodes isn't a full-on free agent yet - his 90-day no-compete clause ensures that he's not able to wrestle until August 19 - but he's already lined up a ton of bookings for late summer. The very day his no-compete ends, he'll be making his EVOLVE debut against Johnny Gargano. The following week, he'll be crossing two names off of his already-famous list when he wrestles Mike Bennett and Kurt Angle for Northeast Wrestling. He's also been confirmed as participating in PWG's Battle of Los Angeles tournament.

If Rhodes really wants to cross everyone off his list, though, he may have to work for a major promotion or two. Adam Cole works for Ring of Honor and Katsuyori Shibata is in New Japan, and both Moose and Roderick Strong could even be on their way to WWE.

While Rhodes probably won't be heading back to McMahon territory anytime soon, any interest he has in ROH or New Japan is likely mutual.
