5. David Starr

Few wrestlers have benefitted from the recent indie wrestling exodus like David Starr, whose, ahem, star is going stratospheric after the global clearout.

That isn't to say Starr wasn't a difference-maker before WWE and AEW started going signing crazy, though. 'The Product' has been great for years. Sharp, magnetic, and versatile, he guarantees entertainment, whether he's working comedy bouts with Orange Cassidy or maiming himself in deathmatches with Joey Janela, and now, finally, he's enjoying the kind of global spotlight his talents deserve.

What stands out most is Starr's ability to work anywhere on the alignment scale. As best evidenced in his years-long rivalry with WALTER, the 'King Of Taunts' is a sublime underdog babyface capable of generating immense sympathy with elite bumping and selling. Conversely, he's just as great as a sh*thead heel. This adaptability will serve him well going forward, wherever he ends up.

Starr primarily competes in the United Kingdom after moving there last year, and recently scored the biggest win of his career by besting Jordan Devlin in PROGRESS' Super Strong Style 16 tournament final. 2019 may see him become the face of global indie wrestling if the pace holds.
