10 Huge AEW Full Gear Predictions You Need To Know

2. MJF Turns Heel

It feels too early.

The story built so expertly across various Indy promotions, AAA, and Being The Elite hasn't been explored much on Dynamite, where it counts, beyond a tease during the electric closing angle to the second episode.

But there's also this: in the big video package that framed Full Gear's main event as the fight of Cody's life, MJF promised the arrival of a star. This foreshadowed the heel turn we all know is happening. Only the when and the how is up for debate; MJF is the d*ckhead hiding in plain sight, and Cody knows full well that he's a d*ckhead - a necessary tweak on the BTE story - but he's his d*ckhead. His protege. But not for much longer.

There is an incredible amount of narrative ground to explore here, not least of which the idea that the turn ties into the latest stipulation added to the main event. Perhaps MJF encouraged Cody to make this decision, clearing his own path to gold. That twist puts Cody over immediately as an Ace MJF had to remove from the equation.

The programme will be amazing, of that there's no doubt: MJF is every bit a phenomenal heel promo as Cody is a babyface promo, there's so much of Cody's character to pick apart - and on the evidence of Chris Jericho's instant classic of a video spoof, Cody has no qualms over using all of it to drive a money programme.
