At November to Remember 1998, Taz teamed with Rob Van Dam and Sabu to defeat The Triple Threat. But a week after this, the backstage grumblings of Taz saw him get schooled by RVD.

Unhappy about something in their match, Taz had gone around bad mounting both Van Dam and Sabu, going as far as to say how he could kick both their asses. At this point in time, remember, Taz had found his footing as a completely badass character who was fearless, unrelenting, and viewed as one of the toughest guys in the business.

Upon hearing about Taz’s words, RVD walked straight up to him and famously asked him to “pick a hand” before slapping him around a little. Perceived as a pacifistic stoner, Van Dam surprised many be standing up for himself and hunting down Taz. For his part, Taz quickly tried to talk his way out of a full-on ass-whooping and smoothed things over with Van Dam.

While this fight wasn’t major in terms of physicality, what made it particularly notable is it started to take the shine off Taz’s tough guy persona.
