10 Huge Matches For WWE SummerSlam 2016
7. WWE United States Championship Match: Apollo Crews (C) Vs Sheamus
Apollo Crews is a huge star in the making, and with any luck, WWE knows it. The relative brevity of Crews's NXT tenure hopefully means that the company has major plans for him, and the sooner the wheels get set in motion, the better.
By summer, Crews should have already won one of the company's secondary championships - preferably the United States Title, given the way the belt has lacked direction. Even though both men are faces, an impromptu match on Raw between Kalisto and Crews in the spring could let the former Dragon Gate star capture the gold in decisive fashion.
After winning the title, Crews will be beset by heel challengers, and the level of superstars he beats will go a long way toward building him up prior to a main-event push. Former WWE Champion and current League of Nations leader Sheamus may not be the most entertaining bad guy in the company, but his name still has some cachet and a showdown with Crews could do a lot for the young star.
The two can go head to head at SummerSlam, and if Crews cleanly beats Sheamus - and fends off interference from Rusev and Alberto Del Rio - fans will surely know they're looking at a future WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
