10 Huge Wrestling Matches That Happened WAY Too Late

5. Ric Flair Vs. Shawn Michaels (WrestleMania XXIV)

Don't let Shawn Michaels' appearances on this list fool you into thinking that 'The Heartbreak Kid' was past his best in either of the bouts he was involved in here.

That's also not to say that the match between himself and 'The Nature Boy' Ric Flair at WrestleMania 24 was of a terrible standard either, as the pair still managed to squeeze every drop of drama out of the final fight of Flair's WWE career.

Yet, despite the bout being fondly remembered as an emotionally charged contest between two of the best in the game, just imagine what they could have done in the ring together had they met at an earlier stage in each of their careers.

Had the Flair of the mid-'90s met the innovative young Michaels in the then-WWF, an enthralling clash of styles and battle of new generation vs. old guard would have certainly been able to get *sses in seats and money in Vince McMahon's bank account.

Even though the match is still a classic, if the pair had met back in the day we would have seen a more vibrant and colourful battle than the deeply dramatic one we got at 'Mania XXIV.

Your writer still loves what we got in the end, but knows that we could have had something that little bit more entertaining if it had happened a decade or so earlier.
