10 Huge Wrestling Matches That Happened WAY Too Late
3. AJ Styles Vs. Randy Orton (WrestleMania 35)
Randy Orton and AJ Styles did actually have a battle on SmackDown a few years before their 'Mania 35 grudge match. But, it was the latter contest that had the Grandest Stage and a captivating programme coming into the Show of Shows.
Yet, despite all the hard work the pair had put into selling their impending war, all those who left MetLife Stadium couldn't help but wonder what the clash would have looked like had it happened a little earlier in their storied careers.
Back when Styles was seriously proving just how 'Phenomenal' he could be in TNA around 2008/9, Orton was coming into his own as 'The Viper' and putting on drama-soaked bangers with the likes of Triple H and John Cena.
So, if Styles was brought into WWE a little bit earlier and the pair were matched-up for an epic feud which culminated in a 'Mania XXV blow-off, we would have probably seen one of the best matches of either man's run as a top worker.
What we got at 'Mania 35 was alright. Had it happened ten years earlier, though, it would have been truly... phenomenal (I couldn't help myself).
