Speaking about the issue during a number of interviews post-retirement, Shawn Michaels noted that he pitched a match against The Rock several times, but theorised that Rocky simply wasn't interested in facing him. Unable to fully put his finger on the reason why, HBK did remark that he and The Rock didn't always see things the same way. A lot of this supposed animosity stems from an incident involving Michaels and The Rock's grandmother many years ago. Disrespecting the woman, Shawn angered Rocky, and the duo seemed to steer clear of one another after that. What a match it would have been though, to see Shawn Michaels go one-on-one with The Rock. It's fair to say that wrestling fans have been robbed by the fact this one will seemingly never happen, it would have been something special. There was no real set date for a show down between these two gigantic names in the wrestling world, but it should have happened, for financial reasons if nothing else.
