The SmackDown Live Tag Team Titles may not change ownership with Kofi Kingston hurtling towards a legitimately impressive 1000 total days as a doubles champion in his WWE career, but there’s a good chance the show itself gets stolen when The Bar and The New Day have their first encounter of any great significance on the Australian supershow.

It’s the feud fans wanted most when Sheamus and Cesaro escaped the dumpster fire masquerading as a tag division on Monday Night Raw earlier this year, and the pair are to be commended for their patience during the drought.

Alongside The Usos, The Bar were conspicuous by their absence in 2018 in contrast to their red hot run the year before, but the mouthwatering prospect of an entire series of matches with these two teams kicking off here seems as exciting as the maiden match itself.

Tempting as it may be to hotshot the titles to give the live crowd a Saturday night takeaway, there’s a ballsier opportunity later on in the card the company would be best served taking. The New Day will poach this one, but audiences Stateside will be only too glad to get the inevitable rematches.
