6. Defying Expectations

When the Raw Vs SmackDown Live! Survivor Series card was first announced, even the most morbid supporters were able to find intrigue in each Champion Vs Champion match. With one glaring exception.

The Miz Vs Baron Corbin didn't even sound marketable to say out loud. The match graphic induced a headache at the very prospect of actually seeing the competitors come to life against one another. It was okay though, because no sooner was the card announced, WWE began tinkering with it. In a rare acknowledgement of failure, the company set about re-jigging the show into what stands before us all as one of the finest cards ever crafted. Surely this US/Intercontinental Title match would be the first to bite the dust.

In the spirit of the pay-per-view itself, it now incredulously remains a sole survivor. Every single other match changed.

In an even more astonishing twist, the pair threw some petrol on a barely-burning flame and set social media ablaze. Fittingly, The Miz spitting fire through his iPhone was the peak of the programme. Dropping truth and F-bombs alike, the 'A-Lister' ripped into the hot-and-cold Corbin in a memorable promo destined to see him cheered against 'The Lone Wolf'. It's also why he'll lose.

After an up and down year, Baron needs this high profile win so much more. Miz almost benefits from dropping bouts when he's whinging on Raw, whereas Corbin isn't a remotely believable badass after landing flat on his back.
