5. Kings Of Trios

In an organisation not overflowing with thrilling three-men groups, it's not an over-reach to suggest this is the biggest triumvirate tussle in WWE history.

For all the success Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns have had since their original split in 2014, the Ambrose/Rollins reunion has been a keen reminder of the propensity for the art of doubles destruction. Reigns' return to the fold on the go-home Raw emphatically reminded audiences why the group were so dangerously dominant in their prime.

The New Day looked old hat at the start of 2017, seemingly devoid of purpose without the tag belts they'd held for a record-setting 483 days. Monday Night Raw's doubles division moved on without them, and the group were side-shifted into a holding role as WrestleMania 33 'hosts'. Fortunately, the group's SmackDown Live! jump turned out to be their real unicorn. A feud with The Usos completely reimagined the fun-lovers as fiery fighters, with their series against Jimmy and Jey comfortably one of the best feuds of the year.

In a Survivor Series match that looks on paper like the opening screen of a video game and a dream sequence title headliner, somehow The Shield and The New Day could still steal the show. And narrowly, the boys in black flack will eek out the win.
