10 Hyped WWE Debuts That Were CANCELLED
4. Harry Smith
The son of the legendary Davey Boy Smith enjoyed several tips as a future star in both WWE and New Japan at the start of the 2010s. Unfortunately for the heavyweight bruiser, such potential never materialised.
After badly losing ground in Japan due to his involvement in the critically-panned Suzukigun invasion of Pro Wrestling NOAH, the then-Davey Boy Smith Jr. floundered upon returning to New Japan in 2017. Stints in promotions such as All Japan in the years since haven't fared much better, but it appeared Smith had found a lifeline with a return to the WWE.
Re-signed by the world's biggest wrestling promotion in July 2021, Smith worked a dark match and even had a video made on his return for the WWE YouTube channel. Sadly for the former Killer Elite Squad member, his return to TV never went through, and he was future-endeavoured four months later. Smith has since confirmed plans involved him adopting a persona similar to his father's but he was dropped without explanation before they could come to fruition.
This was just one of many setbacks in the WWE for Harry Smith, who also missed out on a spot in Legacy back in '09 and was released from the promotion entirely in 2011. Considering his size and technique, there's a case to be made that Smith is one of the biggest creative disappointments of his generation at this point.
