A serial offender when it comes to disappointing feuds, Triple H actually had a strong rivalry with Chris Jericho back in 2000, peaking with a great Last Man Standing bout at Fully Loaded. Unfortunately, the duo just couldn’t recreate the magic two years later, and their second major feud didn’t live-up to its sky high expectations.

Having recently turned heel, Y2J had recently become WWE’s Undisputed Champion by overcoming The Rock and Steve Austin at Vengeance. Triple H, meanwhile, had just returned from an eight-month injury absence, and won the Royal Rumble as a babyface.

Sadly, WWE proved they’d learned nothing from the Triple H/Kurt Angle storyline, and placed Stephanie McMahon alongside Jericho. The story once again revolved around Steph and Hunter’s marital problems, with Jericho playing no more than a supporting role throughout, and it resulted in a horrendously unengaging WrestleMania match.

Jericho later claimed that the angle failed because Triple H didn’t want to show weakness throughout, and insisted on going over. He did just that by first defeating Jericho at ‘Mania, then again at Judgment Day six weeks later, crippling the first Undisputed Champion's moment in the process.
