10 Iconic WrestleMania Moments Nobody Will Ever Forget
2. Randy Savage Vs. Ricky Steamboat (WrestleMania 3)
Jim Crockett Promotions was on top of the wrestling world at one time. The North Carolina based company was part of the prestigious NWA and showcased talents like Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, The Road Warriors and The Rock & Roll Express, among many others. The WWF at that time could not touch JCP in terms of talent; the NWA had the best workers and the best storylines in the industry and were packing houses all over the world. Vince McMahon was doing all he could to keep up and some believed that the circus atmosphere he presented would never overcome the realistic presentation of the NWA. However, when Vince began signing talent away from the territories and the NWA, everything changed. Suddenly the WWF began to become relevant and it was thanks to guys like Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat that the transformation took place. These two were workhorses in the ring, able to tell a story through intense drama and entertain fans on a whole new level. That is exactly what happened at WrestleMania III. Savage and Steamboat had what many fans feel is the greatest Mania match of all time. They gave everything they had in the ring and rode the energy of the crowd from start to finish. The wrestling world knew it was witnessing a classic and an undeniable turning point for Vince's company. This was what WWE could be with the right talent on the right platform and it remains one of the greatest WrestleMania moments of all time.
