10 Iconic WrestleMania Moments Nobody Will Ever Forget
4. Stone Cold Becomes A Player Versus Bret Hart (WrestleMania 13)
When Steve Austin stood in front of a packed house and uttered the phrase "Austin 3:16" for the first time, WWE likely did not know what was coming. After all, it was merely just a promo cut by a guy that couldn't get his legs under him or make anyone in the crowd care about him in the slightest. However that all changed and it changed very quickly. There was something about Austin's promo that struck a chord with the WWE faithful and there was something about his new gimmick that made them care about him like they never had before. Austin became Stone Cold and when that happened, the wrestling world was turned upside down. Austin upset the traditional heel/babyface dynamic by becoming a popular antagonist. He did everything in his power to be hated but nothing worked. Fans were flocking to him like they had no other Superstar and Austin's popularity would arguably eclipse that of even Hulk Hogan himself. Austin needed a great starting point however and that starting point came courtesy of Bret Hart. The Hitman stepped into the ring with Austin at WrestleMaina XIII and helped create his legend. Austin put up a great fight and matched Hart move for move until the end when he looked as though he would bleed to death while in the Sharpshooter. Stone Cold never gave up and it was this moment that put him on the path to becoming the icon he was destined to be.
