8. Mauro Ranallo

There are no WWE figures more divisive than the commentary team. While great stars like Corey Graves started their table side careers with the fans fully behind them, their position on the main roster has brought many a fan against them, thanks to over-scripting and corporate talk. However, one figure who managed to elude all of that was Mauro Ranallo.

Ranallo proved himself to be a fantastic play-by-play commentator in organisations like Stampede Wrestling and multiple MMA companies. He was brought straight to the blue brand and was dubbed "the Voice of SmackDown" in no time. While play-by-play commentary seems like the less exciting part of the broadcast system, Ranallo brought infectious energy with his utter knowledge, unrivalled passion and signature catchphrase, "Mamma Mia!".

Sadly, due to personal issues and alleged bullying from the ever toxic JBL, Ranallo would step away from the brand. However, fans were thrilled when he transitioned to being the lead commentator on NXT, where he would serve for another three years, before officially announcing his departure from the company on 31 August 2020.

The man was such a positive presence, as his passion and talent made him a cut above the rest against his peers.
