4. Buff Bagwell's Horrible Match And Bad Attitude Led To WWE Dismissal

Buff Bagwell challenged Booker T for the WCW World Title in the main event of the July 2, 2001 episode of Raw as part of WCW's takeover of WWE. The match was met with a hostile reception from the crowd in part because it sucked, but also because it was billed as a WCW match in a WWE ring. The WWE fans had been trained to loathe all things WCW for years so, really, was it any wonder? The match ended in a no-contest when Steve Austin and Kurt Angle attacked both guys and then literally threw Booker out of the building. Bagwell celebrated with them, but then they tossed him out of the building as well, much to the delight of the fans. One week later, Bagwell was told he was being released from WWE due to his bad attitude - he had a fight with Shane Helms, was late getting to the buildings, was perceived as being arrogant backstage and, it is claimed, had his mother call in sick for him when he didn't feel like doing house shows (a claim made by Jim Ross that Bagwell strongly refutes). His stinker with Booker T also played a part. It's pretty incredible that a guy could get fired after his first and only match on Raw, which also happened to be the main event. That's what happened to Buff Bagwell, though. He wrestled for other companies and works indy shows once in a while, but his career in WWE was over just as soon as it started. Don't expect to see him back any time soon. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km9PPOs2_I8
