10 Images That Proved 2017 Was Wrestling’s Craziest Year Ever

The sheer joy of independent wrestling in 2017 summed up in one image, The Elite appearing alongside 'Session Moth' Martina for one of her YouTube interview episodes highlights the dynamism, determination and diversity that fils the scene.

Unafraid to do away with so many traditions, performers today are confidently charting their own course without concern for how it may reflect on the largest company to promote their trade. Innovators of wrestling's journey into the meta-narrative, The Young Bucks have changed the game from outside the glass panels of Titan Tower - something CM Punk was errantly advised could not be done when he agreed to extend his contract in 2011.

Martina has had a banner year in her own right, with the 'Session Moth' persona now one of the hottest on the circuit despite characteristics once considered too divisive to draw. Interviewers of old probably couldn't get away with necking a can of Oranjeboom in a onesie whilst working either, but this is 2017.

And it wouldn't be 2017 without talking about Kenny Omega. He clutches Martina's 'BAE' pillow throughout, so secure in his star power to know that such a jape no longer constitutes a weakening of his aura. A prop in this, it's probably something most fans would gladly gift him for his contributions...
