Following a stellar 12 months of MMA action, the UFC start 2020 with a whole host of new, intriguing match-ups. As always, we're here to preview the fights that any true fight fan would be a fool to miss.

After getting annihilated by Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229, Conor McGregor makes his long awaited return to the Octagon. Standing across the cage from him is fight-finishing fan-favourite, Donald Cerrone. It's a scrap that has plenty of entertainment value and, if the two fighters styles are anything to go by, will be full of highlight-reel levels of violence. Which man will leave the T-Mobile arena with the win and start the new year on a high note?

That's not the only match-up in January that should have fans excited. From heavy-hitting heavyweights looking to make a run for the belt in 2020 to high-flying lightweight contenders who have a performance bonus written all over their scrap, there's plenty happening in the UFC to keep fans enthralled.

Now It's time to take a look at what's coming up for MMA & UFC fans next month. Let's begin...

10. Grant Dawson Vs. Chas Skelly - UFC 246

Anyone who is a fan of the UFC's featherweight division will know that there's an abundance of talented, violent fighters in the weight class. However, one 145lber who has fallen under the radar is the extremely unpredictable Chas Skelly. The former collegiate wrestler is one of the most exciting - and unorthodox - grapplers in the division, which has led to some noteworthy finishes.

Although he can be on the receiving end of some brutal striking battles, if the fight goes to the ground, his talent for catching submissions during scrambles truly shines. If his opponent leaves their neck out there, you can guarantee that Skelly will latch on to it within a seconds. It's only a matter of time from there before he locks up a submission. Now that he's training under the watchful eye of Hard Knocks 365 coach, Henri Hooft, fans might even see an improvement in his striking.

Much like Skelly, his opponent, Grant Dawson, is a solid grappler who will look to submit his opponents if given the opportunity. He has a propensity for getting his opponent's back, before searching for a rear naked choke. Skelly will certainly be his toughest opponent yet though, so expect plenty of close calls between these two.
