10 Incredible WCW Storylines That Never Got Resolved

7. The Ultimate Surprise

Killer Kowalski pupil Richard Williams was hired in Spring of 1995 to play Ultimate Warrior clone, Renegade. Hulk Hogan hyped his debut by calling him €œUltimate Surprise€, heavily implying it would be Jim Hellwig returning to the role. Renegade€™s presentation mimicked that of the Warrior€™s in every way. Long hair, tassels tied to his arms and boots, face paint, running to the ring, shaking the ropes, and similar entrance music. He had additional support with Jimmy Hart as his manager. The would-be-warrior even pinned Arn Andreson to win the television title in an attempt to legitimatize his occupation in the main event picture. The match, however, exposed Renegade€™s severe lack of depth as a performer and was jettisoned from the leading role and dropped the title shortly after. Renegade became a preliminary wrestler who would never come close to the stardom he had briefly attained. In an ironic twist of fate, Williams doubled as The Ultimate Warrior at Fall Brawl 1998 when smoke, mirrors, and a trap door were used to explain how the Warrior kept getting in and out of a locked steel cage in order to play mind games with Hulk Hogan. The circuit has been completed.
