10 Incredible Wrestlers Fans WROTE-OFF Before They Were Famous
2. Seth Rollins
Here's the 'future jobber".
ROH fans weren't especially kind to Tyler Black on his way out the door in 2010. News had spread that he'd signed a developmental deal with WWE, so it was time for Black to drop the company's top title and move on to staring at the lights for guys like John Cena (if he was lucky). That was the attitude towards the soon-to-be Seth Rollins once word got around that he was WWE bound.
Tyler going on to be a success story in the market leader? Not a chance! He'd be grovelling at the feet of Honor management by mid-2011 and begging for his role back. That's what the doubters thought, at least. They couldn't have been more wrong. As Rollins, the celebrated wrestler went on to become a key part of The Shield, then enjoyed multiple WWE Title reigns. He even became the first ever World Heavyweight Champion under current lineage when that belt was revived/created in 2023.
That's only scratching the surface. Seth has achieved things beyond his wildest dreams in WWE. Moving on from ROH and the close knit independent scene when he did was the best career decision he could've made. So what if hardcore fans took a dump on it and taunted him with cruel chants about being future enhancement on Raw or SmackDown? They were wrong.
On that, it was pretty childish of indy crowds to dismiss Black as someone who was both selling out and as somebody who had zero chance of making it as a higher level. More fool them, eh?
