10 Incredibly Dumb Things That Happen In WWE Every Year

6. Ladders Become Tables

When WWE first introduced the ladder match with Shawn Michael and Razor Ramon in 1992, the equipment was used primarily for climbing to retrieve an object hanging above the center of the ring and as a weapon. Over the years, however, WWE seemed to have confused a ladder for a table.

Since the 2010s, WWE superstars smashing through the center of a "steel" (definitely not wooden or gimmicked) ladder became become something of a regular sight. While the stunt showed up at several different PPV events, such as WrestleMania 21 with The Hardy Boyz and Edge or Extreme Rules with Christian and Shelton Benjamin, the spot primarily showed up around the time of the TLC and Money in the Bank events.

For a fan witnessing the spot for the first time, the sudden crash and thought of a human being going through steel was quite the spectacle. However, witnessing so many superstars performing the ladder spot, such as Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, Edge, Daniel Bryan, and Sheamus, amongst others, depreciated its shock value. If WWE were more sporadic with the stunt, it could have maintained some of its luster, and perhaps, if it went away for a while, it could be welcomed back.
