10 Incredibly Dumb Things That Happen In WWE Every Year

5. Over The Top Rope

The Royal Rumble isn't the most complicated match in the world. Two superstars begin. Then at a specified interval, usually 90 seconds or fewer, more competitors enter the ring, one at a time. The only way to lose is to be thrown over the top rope with both feet touching the floor (a rule WWE plays on annually as well), and the last man standing in the ring is the winner. In fact, simply spelling out the rules makes it seem more complicated than it really is.

However, WWE wants to make sure everyone gets the idea as they promote the Royal Rumble each year. In the weeks leading up to the event, wrestlers from both Raw and SmackDown will suddenly lose their ability to stay within the ropes as they start to tumble over the top and onto the floor rather easily.

Do you get it? All the wrestlers going over the top rope. It's just like the battle royal! Of course, along with the sudden top-rope stuff, WWE also likes to show you who they want you to think will win the Rumble by having said superstar stand alone in the closing moments of a go-home show.
